At Trent Law Solicitors, our notary services are provided through Trent Notary Limited by Dr. Aamir Nawaz, a qualified Notary Public authorised to practise throughout England and Wales.
Based in Nottingham, Leicester and Derby, we act for clients across the Midlands and Yorkshire, and appointments can be arranged at our offices or, by prior agreement, at your premises.
When Do You Need a Notary Public?
If you are involved in international transactions or personal matters abroad, a Notary Public may be required. Common examples include:

How your matter will proceed
Most notarial matters follow three simple stages.
First, instruction and preparation. You contact me with your document and I confirm what is required, my fee, and the identification you will need to bring. If the document is still in draft, I review it and confirm any requirements of the destination country. This stage is usually completed within one working day of your enquiry.
Second, the appointment. We meet at one of my offices or at another agreed location, or by video where the approved electronic procedure is used. I verify your identity, satisfy myself as to your understanding of the document and, where you sign before me, witness your signature and complete the notarial act with my signature and seal. Most matters are completed at a single appointment, and I can usually offer an appointment within one to three working days. Urgent appointments are often available on the same day.
Third, legalisation, where required. Many countries require an Apostille from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and some additionally require legalisation by their consulate or embassy. Where you instruct me to arrange this, I submit your documents and return them to you by tracked post or courier, within the timescales set out in the fees section above. Consular legalisation varies by embassy, commonly between one and four weeks, and I will give you my best estimate for your destination country at the outset.

Professional indemnity insurance
I hold professional indemnity insurance covering my notarial practice worldwide with a limit of £1,000,000, which meets the minimum level of cover directed by the Master of the Faculties. This means that financial redress is available to you in the unlikely event of an error or omission in my work.
